Star Gift Box Tutorial using Stampin' Up! products

We appear to slipping into late nights and lazy mornings over the summer holidays. It's quite a nice change from the usual morning routine of chasing around after small children trying to get them dressed and out on time for the school run! Lol.

Anyway on to today's project using Stampin' Up!® products - it is the promised star shaped gift box tutorial, that I first showcased for the recent Pinkies Blog Hop.

I recreated this project for my monthly card class, giving it a Christmassy colour scheme this time.

The box looks more complicated to make than it is. Essentially it's made the same way as a Christmas cracker on one end. I simply scored the card stock (with the Simply Scored Scoring Tool) then used the Envelope Punch Board for the top of the box.

Cut a piece of card stock to 7" x 10.5". Decorate as required then score the long side at 2”, 4”, 6”, 8” and 10”. Score the short side at 1.5”, 4.5” and 5.5” then burnish the score lines.

The top of the box needs to be folded valley (5.5" score line) then mountain (4.5" score line) as shown.

Using the envelope punch board, cut a notch in the card stock at the 5.5” score line, by folding over along the score lines at 2” so that the card stock is doubled over, line up the score line in the centre of the punch. Repeat for 4”, 6”, 8”, 10” and finally punch the outer edge (see picture below for guidance).

Cut up the bottom flaps as shown in the picture above. Stick a strip of sticky tape down the score line of the ½” section. Remove the backing and adhere the box together as shown in the picture below.

Stick some sticky strip to two of the bottom flaps. Fold the others in first then fold over the remaining two to close the bottom of the box. Cover with a circle of matching card stock to neaten the appearance.

To close the box push the top most score lines inwards to bring the box opening semi shut. Tie some Baker’s twine or ribbon around it to keep it shut (once contents have been placed inside). Finally pinch the top into a star shape.

I hope you're inspired to give it a go. It really is quite straightforward. Have fun!
