Peachy Keen meets Deck chair candy stripes - using Stampin' Up! ® products

Oh I have had soooo much fun making today's cards for you. See I'm so keen to tell you about them and a fantastic new promotion from Stampin' Up! that I haven't even said good morning yet! Good morning!!

First my cards - they are not the cards I had intended to complete for my post today. Originally I had planned an ombresque type card using the Petite Petals stamp set, but it's sitting quite unfinished in my basket of half completed projects, where no doubt it will languish for a while until that mojo comes back. I had an itch I just needed to see to! For a while now I have been seeing pins on Pinterest  for the March Paper Pumpkin kit. Now we don't get this kit in Europe and I'm not sure if it will be introduced over here at all. Anyways, the card blank is a lovely stripy affair - looks like Coastal Cabana to me. The stripes aren't sharp - they are a little fuzzy around the edges and the gaps in between aren't the same size. Originally I was going to try to create as an exact copy as I could, until I got out my low tack tape and decided to space everything evenly instead.

I started by masking stripes onto Stampin' Up! Note Cards and then squashing the ink pad down onto the note card to transfer the ink. I used the note cards as they are made from thicker card stock and you need to press fairly hard to get an even cover of ink.  I tried out a few colours - Pool party, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo & Strawberry Slush. The results reminded me of deck chairs.

Thinking of deck chairs and candy stripes made me reach for two stamp sets I have barely used so far - Peachy Keen (available in wood and clear) and Around the World (available in wood or clear). They both have that holiday feel.

For the first card I simply stamped and cut out the sentiment Hello Friend and the heart. I stamped the  friend part directly onto the card blank.  I stuck some Gold Baker's twine onto the note card using the shape from the Spring/Summer catalogue page 24 as guide.

I stuck the heart over the twine and the sentiment over that. It kind of reminds me of the life rings you get on board cruise ships for some reason! I finished off the card with a few sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim.

I couldn't resist making the other card that was buzzing around in my head.

For this card, I stamped the aeroplane image from Around the World onto Whisper White and cut out a frame from Bermuda Bay using the On-Film framelits*. I attached the heart to the frame and the sentiment over the heart. I then tapped some Bermuda Bay ink over the card from the tube of a spritzer bottle.

* Peachy Keen & the On-Film Framelits are available as a bundle in either wood or clear.

I hope you like today's projects and are inspired to get crafting or get in the holiday mood!
