Elegant Park Lane Butterfly card | Stampin' Up! products

It was my Mother-in-Law's birthday recently and as usual I had left it till the last minute to make her cards. I always make one from the boys and one from my husband and I. I saw this lovely card on Pinterest using a template but I decided to come up with a quick work around as I don't have a very good working relationship with my printer lol!

I love the Elegant Butterfly Punch from Stampin' Up!. It was the very first punch I bought and I was hooked from then on. The card base is a 3"x3" gate fold made from Whisper White, with the butterfly forming the "closure".

I forgot to take a photo before I got my son to write his message in it.

The "NAN" on the inside is cut out with the Little Letter Framelits and the sentiment is stamped in Blackberry Bliss using the Sassy Salutations rubber stamp set (available in wood or clear). I stuck some Park Lane DSP underneath and popped the Whisper White panel up on Stampin' Dimensionals.

So you want to see how I made the card base without printing a template? It's very easy really. 

• I cut my card stock to 8" x 3". Scored at 1" 2.5", 5.5" and 7". 
• I then folded the first and last score lines as mountains and the inner 2.5" and 5.5" as valley folds. 
• Punched out a butterfly from a sticky note, stuck it over the outside of the two outer flaps (as shown below). 
• I traced around the outline of the butterfly with a pencil and then cut around it with my paper snips (fantastic little scissors!). 
• I decorated the card front with Park Lane DSP and then cut an Old Olive Elegant Butterfly punch out in two and stuck over the Whisper White ones. 
• Finally closing the card with Linen Thread.
